iLab Solutions’ headquarters is no stranger to the occasional four-legged visitor. Situated on farmland, the site regularly attracts a variety of animals — but one particular visitor quickly made himself at home.
Over the last week, a beautiful black cat could be heard meowing around the premises and happily accepting affection from employees, and it quickly became clear that this friendly feline was unlikely to be a stray. Employees decided it was best to contact local animal welfare services to make sure he was not a lost pet. After being checked over by a wonderful retiree named Richard who is part of the ‘Scan Angels’ group, the cat was confirmed to be owned, and thanks to some careful detective work and a few phone calls, his owner was eventually traced.
The mystery cat was Lucifer, a much-loved family pet who had disappeared from his home in January. His owner, Neil, had spent months searching for him, including sharing missing-pet posts on social media, but with no sign of Lucifer, there was little hope of knowing where he had gone. Neil told our employees “he kept coming and going for two weeks in January, and then suddenly disappeared”.
That all changed when Neil received a call from the vet informing him that his beloved cat had been found at iLab Solutions.
Despite being only two miles away, nine months had separated this beautiful pair, and a reunion was well overdue. The reunion was an emotional one, and there were tears and goosebumps all round. Lucifer is finally back where he belongs — safe at home and reunited with the owner who never stopped looking for him. For Lucifer, the journey home may have taken months, but one thing was certain: he was never forgotten. The employees at iLab Solutions are incredibly grateful and thankful to Richard, part of the ‘Scan Angels’ group, as well as the ‘Vets For Pets’ group for helping this adorable feline find it’s home.
For anyone who comes across a lost or stray animal, Scan Angels is a free and accessible service that can help connect you with a local volunteer who has access to a microchip scanner.
The process is simple: by contacting a nearby Scan Angel, a volunteer can attend and scan the animal for a microchip. If a microchip is found, the unique identification number can then be provided to a local veterinary practice, which can use its database to identify the registered owner and help reunite the animal with their family.
This simple service can make a significant difference in helping lost pets find their way home safely and quickly.
